CSA
What does the CSA support?
The Catholic Services Appeal (CSA), an initiative of the Archdiocese of Detroit (AOD), supports the community through funding various ministries and programs. Essentially, the CSA acts as a central fundraising mechanism to support a wide range of initiatives within the AOD, benefiting both the religious community and the broader population of Southeast Michigan.
These funds help parishes, individuals, and the larger community by supporting activities such as:
Ministries and Programs:
Supports over 100 ministries, programs, and services within the archdiocese.
Charitable Support:
Supports charitable initiatives, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and serving the poor.
Sacred Heart Major Seminary:
Support men discerning a call to the priesthood and educating lay ministers.
Catholic Schools:
Provides grands to Catholic schools, support their educational mission.
By making a gift, you contribute to a legacy of faith and love that reaches far beyond our immediate community. Your support helps to ensure that the Gospel is preached, the hungry are fed, and the love of Christ is made manifest to all.
Capital Campaign
What is a Capital Campaign?
A capital campaign is a focused, time-limited fundraising effort by a nonprofit to raise substantial funds for a specific, large-scale project.
In 2025, St. Mary began its three-year Capital Campaign to run alongside our CSA campaign to raise funds for much needed projects. We are asking for $100,000 in the first two years of the campaign and $150,000 in the third year.
The projects include:
• Roof repair/replacements: The three (3) separate roofs to our parish facility were completed in 1998 and all are in need of varying degrees of repair or total replacement. Estimated cost: $187,000.
• HVAC system units: two (2) systems have reached their life expectancy and can no longer be repaired sufficiently. Estimated cost: $139,000.
• Rectory and garage roof replacement: These were last completed in 1997 and 2002 respectively. Estimated cost: $24,000.
Why are we combining the Capital Campaign with our CSA goal?
There are several economic reasons:
1. Donating funds to CSA is the most cost effective way to donate money to the church.
2. By running the capital campaign along side our CSA campaign, the funds we raise are not assessed by the AOD. In other words, the funds will not be “taxed at 6%” by the AOD.
3. Any funds raised above the CSA and capital campaign goals will remain at our parish and will be deposited into our savings.
