Backpack Program - (Val Thompson, Coordinator)

Supplies are collected throughout the month of July. Backpacks are then packed and distributed in August to any child in need throughout the Huron Valley school District. Parishioners assist with purchasing supplies, counting, packing and distribution.

Crop Walk - (Bobby Ley, Coordinator)

Area churches join together in a walk to raise money for the hungry. Help is needed with registration in advance and on walk day.

Disabilities Luncheon - (Val Thompson, Coordinator)

Each year St. Mary hosts a picnic for the developmentally and physically challenged.  Parishioners assist with food preparation and serving as well as with activities throughout the picnic.  Time commitment is approximately 3 hours.

Giving Tree - (Val Thompson, Coordinator)

Families in need in the area are provided with gifts and food at Christmas. Residents of area nursing homes and group homes are also provided with Christmas gifts. Parishioners assist with interviewing families, preparing gift tags, sorting and delivering gifts.  Parishioners volunteer time based on their personal availability.

The HAVEN Ministry of Saint Mary (Katie Rafaiani - Coordinator)

Members meet regularly and work together to determine the needs of the shelter residents and provide assistance, or coordinate other parish activities  (such as speakers, etc) in an effort to help raise awareness for those in need.  They prepare a meal and then travel to the shelter to serve the meal the third Wednesday of every month.  Time commitment varies dependent on availability.

VolunteerMartha's Ministry

Parishioners visit with individuals who are homebound.  They talk, read, play, cards, pray, etc. Time commitment varies.

Meals at Hope Warming Center - (Val Thompson, Coordinator)

Parishioners of St. Mary travel to the Hope Warming Center in Pontiac on a monthly basis.  They prepare and serve a meal, and assist as needed in other areas of the shelter.  Parishioners help prepare the meal, which takes approximately 4 to 5 hours during the day.  Parishioners that travel to the shelter are gone for approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Meals at St. Patrick Senior Center in Detroit - (Needed, Coordinator)

Parishioners of St. Mary provide a hot meal for the seniors in the local area of St. Patrick Church (Detroit), three times a year.

Prayer Quilt Ministry - (Rachelle Vick, Coordinator)

Ministers promote active prayer through quilts within the faith community for those facing personal trauma within their circle of family and friends.  Ministers meet monthly for approximately 2 hours to complete quilts.  Additional workshops are scheduled throughout the year.  Ministers also assist with tying quilts after masses when quilts are needed. Right to Life/Pregnancy Aid - (Kathy LaFave, Coordinator)

Various activities are planned throughout the year to assist moms in need.  Parishioners volunteer time based on their personal availability.

St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) - (Jim Baker, Coordinator)

St. Vincent de Paul is an international parish based organization which seeks in a spirit of justice and charity to help those in need regardless of race, creed, or color.  Read more

Thanksgiving Baskets - (Toni and Larry Strauss, Coordinator)

Food baskets are packed and delivered to area families in need.  Parishioners commit as much time as they would like during the process of packing and also delivery.
